The town of Plettenburg Bay, South Africa, is famous for whale watching excursions where visitors see migrating humpback, southern right and Bryde’s whales; three species of dolphins and great white sharks. The ORCA foundation, a private initiative founded by the ecotourism company Ocean blue Adventures, seeks to protect the health and habitat of these animals while reducing poverty in the region.

Hot-Air Balloon Safari

The East African rainy season lasts from October to December and March to June and it triggers the most spectacular mass migration of animals on Earth. More than a million wildebeests and zebras starching as far as the eye can see, start shifting through Tanzania’s Serengeti Plain, heading north to the lush grasslands of Kenya’s Masai Mara.

Lions, hyenas, jackals and vultures follow their every move and the Mara River which is loaded with hungry crocodiles becomes an even more treacherous boundary.

The most elegant way to take in this astonishing migration is to rise above it all in a hot-air balloon. It is the most serene, peaceful, exhilarating thing you’ll ever do and not you everyday safari.
